One Year. 1,059 Subscribers. One Big Lesson. Marketing a Newsletter.
One year ago, I launched The CMO Marketing Mindset on LinkedIn with a simple goal:
Create a place where business leaders, marketing professionals, and industry experts could have meaningful conversations about marketing strategy, business growth, and the decisions that shape organizations.
Today, this newsletter has grown to 1,059 subscribers and counting.
To everyone who has subscribed, read, commented, shared, or simply taken a few minutes out of your day to learn something new, thank you. Building a community around ideas is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
As I celebrate this first anniversary, I also want to share where this newsletter is headed next.

The Biggest Lesson From Year One
When I launched The CMO Marketing Mindset, my original vision was to feature a guest expert every month.
I loved the idea of bringing different perspectives to the table and creating conversations with professionals who could share their expertise and experiences.
And while that happened throughout the year, I also learned something important: Great ideas require consistency, and consistency requires a framework that can continue regardless of schedules, timing, or unexpected changes.
The lesson? A strong platform needs a foundation that doesn’t rely solely on outside factors.
That realization created an opportunity to evolve the newsletter into something even more valuable.

A New Chapter for The CMO Marketing Mindset
Moving forward, this newsletter will continue to explore the topics that influence business growth, leadership, and marketing strategy.
And, I threw in some new branding for it too. Time for the new look I am setting my own business, Fisher Marketing Services, to have.
As a senior-level marketing executive, my perspective has always extended beyond campaigns and tactics. I see marketing as strategy. Strategy that requires a foundation and sturdy frameworks, then the actionable roadmap begins.
And, marketing does not operate in a silo. It connects to operations, sales, customer experience, technology, leadership, and overall business strategy.
So, that is where the conversation is headed.
Expect insights on the old, tried, and true AND on the new:
Marketing strategy and business alignment
Branding, positioning, and messaging
Digital marketing and emerging technologies
AI in marketing and business automations
Customer behavior and market trends
Business development and relationship strategy
Leadership lessons from inside the marketing function
The evolving role of marketing executives in today’s business landscape
Expanding Beyond Marketing
Marketing is my strategic foundation, and I am expanding my ability to see the entire business ecosystem while leveraging specialists when needed.
One of the exciting changes happening behind the scenes is that I am expanding my own consulting work into broader business consulting.
It is the expertise that has shaped my career, the reason I was brought onto the team with our local Small
Business Development Center, and the lens through which I naturally evaluate business challenges and opportunities.
While my foundation will always be marketing, this new role brings a different level of experience.
One of the most rewarding parts of this next chapter is the opportunity to expand my understanding of the many moving parts that impact a business owner’s success.
Marketing does not operate independently. It is connected to finance, operations, leadership, sales, human resources, technology, and countless other areas that influence how a business grows and sustains itself.
That means continuing to learn and develop! Something I truly appreciate as long as I have a good cup of coffee or some Jamba juice with a power boost around.
Seriously, a common misconception about senior executives is that we are expected to have every answer. The reality is different. The strongest leaders know how to ask the right questions, recognize opportunities, and bring together the right experts when specialized knowledge is needed.
That is one of the things I value most about this new experience. Together, our team creates a kind of business “cocoon” for entrepreneurs and small business owners, surrounding them with guidance, resources, and expertise to help them navigate challenges and make informed decisions.
My colleagues bring their own areas of knowledge and experience, and I will always lean into that collaboration. Great business outcomes are rarely created by one person having all the answers.
They are created when the right people come together with a shared purpose.
The learning curve will be real. And I couldn’t be more excited about it.
Guests Are Still Part of the Journey
One thing will not change for this newsletter.
I still believe some of the best insights come from conversations with smart people doing meaningful work! This past year I have had the privilige of interviewing some incredible professionals in marketing and business!
Jessica Aries from By Aries, Pam Bergman-Swartz from Pam & Carson Real Estate Group, Jon Tsourakis from Oyova Software LLC, and more. Thank you for being a stellar part of my inaugural year!
Yes, guest contributors will continue to be part of The CMO Marketing Mindset, but they will now complement the publication rather than define it.
The goal is simple: Bring forward ideas, experiences, and perspectives that help business leaders think differently.
Want to Be Featured?
I’m always interested in connecting with professionals who have valuable insights to share.
Future guest perspectives may include conversations around:
Leadership and organizational growth
Branding and communications
Sales and business development
Technology and AI
Customer experience
Industry-specific trends
Business strategy and innovation
The goal is not simply promotion. The goal is education, collaboration, and meaningful conversation.
If you have a perspective that can help business leaders make better decisions, I would love to hear from you.
Looking Ahead
Marketing will continue to evolve.
Technology will continue to change.
Buyer expectations will continue to shift.
But the foundation remains the same: Strong businesses are built through alignment, strategy, and intentional decision-making.
That is the mindset behind this newsletter.
Thank you for being part of the first year of The CMO Marketing Mindset! I am excited for what comes next and I want you to be a part of the journey. DM me or set up a virtual coffee meeting.
